Built the complete digital launch platform for a solo language coaching business, taking it from zero online presence to a professional, bilingual brand with website, email marketing, ad campaigns, and a growth strategy informed by real market testing.
Background
A language coach with a gift for connecting with students was building her business entirely through word-of-mouth. Students loved her, referrals came naturally, but she had no digital presence, no website, no way for new students to find or evaluate her online. As she grew, she needed a professional platform that matched the quality of her teaching.
The challenge: build a brand and digital infrastructure from scratch for a solo operator with a limited budget, serving a bilingual audience across the Americas.
What I Built
Website & Brand
- Designed and built a bilingual website (English/Spanish) with language switching
- Positioned the brand around “language coaching” rather than just tutoring, reflecting the personalized, community-driven approach that sets her apart
- Integrated testimonials, social proof, and discovery call booking
- Set up Google Tag Manager for analytics tracking
- Mobile-optimized for a student base that primarily browses on phones
Email Marketing & Campaigns
- Built email campaign infrastructure for student outreach and retention
- Designed newsletter templates for class announcements and community updates
- Created automated follow-up sequences for discovery call leads
Paid Advertising & Growth Testing
- Designed and ran Meta/Instagram ad campaigns targeting language learners in South American markets
- Tested multiple ad formats, audiences, and messaging approaches
- Key finding: Paid acquisition underperformed organic and word-of-mouth in this market segment. Students in this niche trust personal recommendations over ads. This insight redirected the growth strategy toward referral systems and content-driven organic reach, saving ongoing ad spend.
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Worked with brand marketers to refine visual identity and messaging
- Positioned the business in the “language coaching community” space rather than competing on price with tutoring marketplaces
- Helped develop the tagline and brand voice for both English and Spanish audiences

What This Project Taught Me
This engagement was as much business consulting as it was technical work. Every small business has a unique growth profile. What works in SaaS or e-commerce doesn’t always transfer to service businesses built on personal relationships. The ad campaigns “failed” by traditional metrics, but the data they produced was worth more than the ad spend. We learned exactly where to invest and where not to, and the business is stronger for it.
